Coronation Street's Brian Tilsley 'reincarnated' to play father of Nick Tilsley - on Hollyoaks

A Coronation Street twist is set to shake up Hollyoaks village this spring.

Chris Quinten, who previously played Brian Tilsley in Coronation Street, will arrive as Kyle Kelly's dad Mark.

His on-screen son Kyle is played by Adam Rickitt, who played Chris' son Nick Tilsley in Coronation Street.

The pair were never on-screen together on Corrie because Brian was stabbed to death in 1989 and the role of Nick was played by Warren Jackson from 1981 to 1996, with Adam taking over the following year.

Adam is excited to finally meet his first on-screen dad decades later.

Speaking about the casting, Adam said: “This is one of the more surreal experiences of my career. After 23 years, I finally get to meet my first on-screen dad, which is truly bizarre."

Reacting to the casting announcement 'Dirk Coronation Street' tweeted: "By 'eck it's the reincarnation of Brian Tilsley, playing the father of the now ex Nick Tilsley.

"This is sorcery I tell ya!"

Diana Weston will play Kyle’s mum, Carole.

She previously played the wife of Joe McGann, who now stars in Hollyoaks as Edward Hutchinson, in The Upper Hand.

Adam, 41, added: "It’s an honour to have such well-established actors like Chris and Diana come in to play my parents and I’ve really enjoyed the scenes we’ve filmed so far.

"Plus at least having parents in the show means Kyle has an excuse to regress into adolescence, which comes quite easily to him.”

Chris, 62, added: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the scenes I’ve filmed so far at Hollyoaks, I already love the show and all of the cast, crew and production staff are fantastic and so friendly.

“Working with Adam after first playing 'his dad' more than thirty years ago is a dream come true, it’s a brilliant piece of soap nostalgia, which I hope everyone enjoys.

“I think Mark and Carole will really give viewers an insight into why Kyle became the man he is today, which has been a lot of fun to play and I’m looking forward to doing more.”

After Corrie Chris played a reporter in the film RoboCop 2 and he had a guest role in the BBC soap Doctors.

Last summer Chris, the manager of Secrets strip club in Hammersmith, popped the question to his dancer girlfriend Robyn Delabarre at her 21st birthday party.

Robyn, whose nan used to fancy Chris when he played Gail Rodwell's late husband Brian in Corrie, met her husband-to-be at the club where Robyn worked as a dancer at the time.
