Coronation Street favourite Audrey Roberts has suffered great tragedy around the New Year period in the past.
There's now fresh death fears for her family, as her grandson David Platt's wife Shona Ramsey remains on life support.
The character was shot during the Christmas Day siege this year, and while she initially appeared okay she soon suffered complications after a bleed.
Shona went into cardiac arrest causing her brain to be starved of oxygen for some time, and in the most recent episodes David learned his wife had "little to no brain activity".
There's now fears she will be killed off soon, with an exit looming for the character as the actress who plays her, Julia Goulding, is currently on maternity leave.
As New Year heartache sweeps the Platt household once again, Audrey may be thinking she's cursed.
This wouldn't be the first tragedy at this time of year for her or the family, with Audrey having lost two partners at this time.
Lewis Archer was planning to propose to Audrey before his death in 2019, while Audrey's husband Alf died back in 1999.
Even more bizarre is the fact both Audrey's long-term partners died on the exact same day 20 years apart - New Year's Day.
The similarities don't stop there either, with both Audrey's lovers dying from heart attacks - while Alf initially suffered a stroke.
An already difficult time of year for legend Audrey, will she and the Platts soon be dealt another tragic blow?
David has been by his wife's bedside ever since Christmas Day, praying she will wake up.
His family including brother Nick and mother Gail have also been up to the hospital for support.
In upcoming scenes, David will fear the worst as doctors remove Shona's breathing tube.
But will she pull through, or will David lose another wife after tragic Kylie Platt's death in 2016?
