Coronation Street's Alan Halsall splashes £100,000 on a luxury car and he's pretty pleased with it

It’s not a bad life being an soap actor - and Alan Halsall is proof of that after splashing out £100,000 on a luxury car.

The Coronation Street star, who plays mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, has just spent his hard earned cash on a shiny red Mercedes AMG GTC.

Alan gave fans a sneaky look into his TV star lifestyle as he showed off his brand new motor, which has a starting price of around £104,000.

The 36-year-old posted an image of the vehicle on Instagram with the message: “You can’t buy happiness but.... you can buy a new car and that’s kind of the same thing.”

While soap stars get a lot of freebies in return for advertising their wares, it seems this is a legitimate buy.

He added: "(#notaAd but thanks to @davejowitt1 @lshautouk for great service)"

This is the latest in a line of life changes he has gone through since splitting from wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who he has a five-year-old daughter, Sienna-Rae, with.

The star has documented his transformation to his followers, which has seen him lose weight and have a second hair transplant.

He’s also spruced his look up a bit - at Cheltenham Festival he wore a three piece suit, tie and flat cap, while on nights out he has been seen showing off his trim figure in stylish shirts and jeans.

His co-star Sally Ann Matthews, aka Jenny Connor, replied saying “Ooooooo, pretty x”

Other fans added their appreciation for the motor, and praised him for his hard work.

One joked: “Best paid mechanic in the world.”

Another posted: “WOW, hard work and determination pays off. You should feel so proud of yourself. Your car is stunning!”

It’s not the first time he has let his followers in on his lifestyle - he recently showed off his swanky new house.

He wrote: "Wow exactly a year to the day I moved in to this house that took nearly four years to finish from start to finish.

"So much has happened in that year, but sat here now with my princess asleep in her bed, I love this house so much #sograteful."
