Coronation Street's Alan Halsall on being urged to propose to girlfriend Tisha Merry

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has responded to his fans' desperation to see him pop the question.

The actor, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, is dating former co-star Tisha Merry.

The loved-up pair delighted fans by getting together, and now they're dying to see Alan put a ring on it.

But he says it's still just early days.

Alan, who shares six-year-old daughter Sienna with ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, chatted exclusively to Mirror Online has he attended Nickelodeon's Slimefest at Blackpool Pleasure Beach at the weekend.

The 37-year-old was there with his little girl, Tisha, 25, and her little sister Alissa.

When we asked how things were going between them, he told us: "Yeah it's great, she's a wonderful girl and I'm really happy."

And when asked about the pressure to propose, he said: "The pressure is there from day one but we've not been together that long, so I think we'll just enjoy ourselves for now."

Alan and Tisha, who had a stint in Corrie as Steph Britton, have been dating since the beginning of the year.

Meanwhile, Tyrone has been having a dramatic time on the cobbles, with him and on-screen partner Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) battling to control troubled daughter Hope.

Hope has just returned to Weatherfield after her mum took to her away to a school which promised to control her behaviour.

She's been acting out a lot, from bullying her half-sister Ruby to even setting the Underworld factory on fire.

Alan said there's lots of drama to come for the family and joked that his own real-life daughter is a "dream" by comparison.

He said: "We've just filmed Christmas this week so there's obviously trouble over Christmas and we've got trouble with the eldest daughter, so it'll be a fun family occasion, it never turns out that way.

"Sienna is an absolute dream by comparison, she's brilliant, no setting fires or anything, it's great, it's dead easy."
