Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt has bagged a new role on BBC One's Doctors.
The 45-year-old is best known for his role as Nick Tilsley on Corrie between 1997 and 1999 and then from 2002 to 2004.
Nick was played by Warren Jackson until 1996 when the character moved to Canada.
Adam's character was involved in the soap's first-ever gay kiss with Todd Grimshaw (played by Bruno Langley).
After leaving Corrie, he went on to take part in New Zealand soap Shortland Street and then Hollyoaks as Kyle Kelly.
He left Hollyoaks in 2020 when his character took his own life.
And now, the actor will join Wendi Peters and Elizabeth Dermot Walsh in daytime show, Doctors.
"Adam was amongst the best soap actors in the country so it was only a matter of time before he landed a new role," an insider told The Sun.
"He’s really excited to get started on Doctors and bosses can’t wait to see how viewers react to him.
"Adam has spent a lot of time working on his bar but is in a position to get back to acting now."
Over the years, he also enjoyed a short-lived music career away from the cobbles and even signed a six-album deal with Polydor.
His iconic 90s dance classic I Breathe Again was his one and only hit.
In 2014, Adam wed Good Morning Britain presenter Katy Fawcett, and the couple bought a shop that sells craft beer and gin at the end of 2019.
The former teen heartthrob revealed it was “love at first sight” for him.
And after knowing her for just one day, the now 44-year-old rang his mum to tell her Katy was the woman he was going to marry.
Katy revealed she “felt it too” but “panicked” at the start of their romance as things moved so fast.
“The reason he says it was [love at first sight] for me and not for her – it actually was for me as well,” the 38-year-old told Loose Women.
“He told me pretty much straight away ‘I love you’ and then introduced me to his mum within a week without telling me about it. I almost slightly panicked a bit.”
