The Coronation Street cobbles have seen many a drama over the years and now the street is set to be rocked by a new disaster - a giant sinkhole.
ITV has confirmed that a gaping crater will appear in the street as part of its autumn schedule.
The sinkhole, a large hole in the ground formed when the land collapses away, causes havoc for the Platts just as David and Shona’s relationship is growing again after his wife suffered memory loss.
Now it's the giant sinkhole in the back garden that causes the biggest problem for them and their neighbours in a new storyline.
The Platts have previously had a dead body concealed at their home, but were unaware of a sinkhole forming.
In 2015, to mark ITV's 60th anniversary, drug dealer Callum Logan was murdered by an angry Kylie Platt with a wrench as he attacked girlfriend Sarah Platt in a special live episode of the soap.
Callum was wrapped in a blanket and buried in a manhole under Gail's granny flat until his body was accidentally unearthed by Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs crashing into the Platt household in a truck the following year.
With the 60th anniversary of the world’s longest-running
soap approaching in December, this autumn viewers will also see Rovers landlord Johnny Connor, factory boss Nick Tilsley and local vicar Billy Mayhew face some ghosts from their pasts.
And Daniel Osbourne's feelings for sex worker Nicky Wheatley are growing, much to his family’s dismay.
