Christmas brings baby joy for Toyah Battersby as she gets her wish of fostering a child on Corrie, but unfortunately it's short-lived.
As the residents of Coronation Street ring in the new year in the soap, Toyah and her partner Imran Habeeb fuss over baby Mason.
Out in the street the couple embrace their role, but neither of them notice Toyah's grief-stricken half-sister Leanne, who recently lost her son Oliver, watching them from the window of her flat.
However, Imran later gets a call from social services informing him that they’ll be collecting Mason who is an emergency placement.
And it becomes clear that the life-changing decision they made to become foster carers is going to spell heartache for the couple.

She suggests to her estranged husband Adam that they should see in the new year together.
Adam is touched, and as a flirtatious Sarah opens the wine he suggests that they should start again with a clean slate. Meanwhile her ex Gary Windass is having a nightmare as it appears he's about to get caught up in his web of lies.
