Coronation Street killer Pat Phelan making grim return to cobbles as pile of ashes

Legendary Coronation Street serial killer Pat Phelan is set to make a grim return to the cobbles - and no, he's not a ghost again.

This time, he's simply a pile of ashes.

Eileen Grimshaw's murderous ex-husband was stabbed to death 2018, ending his reign of terror that saw him the deaths of Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis), Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth), Vinny Ashford (Ian Kelsey) and Luke Britton (Dean Fagan).

Phelan also coerced Anna Windass to have sex with him, framed her for pushing Seb Franklin (Harry Visioni) off a ladder and shooting daughter Nicola (Nicola Thorp) and Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh).

His crimes were exposed in March 2018 while he was on holiday with Eileen, which saw him fall into the sea and was presumed dead.

However, Phelan returned for an explosive confrontation at Michelle and Robert's wedding, leading to him being stabbed to death.

Appearing on This Morning, Sharon Marshall teased what was to come with Phelan's 'return', with host Ruth Langsford probing: "I saw talk that Phelan is back - he can't be back because he's dead, isn't he?"

"Do you know what, when I first saw that headline I thought, 'They're not bringing him back as a ghost again, are they?!' He died, then he came back to life, then he came back as a ghost," Sharon replied. "No. It's not quite that.

"His ashes are back. George has always kept them for some reason that I don't really understand, but he's kept them at the undertakers.

"And when they turn up in a spring clean, how is he going to tell Eileen that he's got her dead, murderous husband kept in an urn there. I have been promised that he is dead and buried and he is definitely not coming back other than urn form."
