Coronation Street Jennie McAlpine's 'dread' as she lifts lids on real life secret wedding

Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine has admitted her "dread" as she gave an insight to her real life wedding.

The 38-year-old soap star is renowned for her role as Fiz Brown on the long-running ITV show. The character is set to have a big Christmas Day on the soap as Tyrone Dobbs has planned their surprise wedding to take place on tonight's special episode.

However, Tyrone's decision to keep the wedding a secret from Fiz has sparked chaos as she has become frustrated with his seeming disinterest in arranging Christmas Day plans. The big event will be struck with disaster when Fiz becomes stranded while trying to get a turkey for Christmas dinner.

Tyrone will be unable to contact the bride-to-be as she leaves her phone back in Coronation Street which raises questions on whether she will make it back for them to finally wed. It is the third time Fiz has been involved in a wedding storyline after she has previously tied the knot with John Stape and Phill Whittaker.

Jennie spoke to the ECHO and other press ahead of the storyline and surprisingly revealed how she dreads a TV wedding. She said: "You're talking to someone who in real life just went off, eloped and married my husband on my own. The idea of being centre of attention in a big white dress is not my idea of heaven."

Jennie has been in a relationship with restaurateur Chris Farr since 2005 - and the two share children named Albert and Hilda. The two tied the knot in a secret ceremony at Manchester's Trafford Town Hall in January 2017.

Jennie revealed the news on Twitter and has previously said how there was only two witnesses present. This a far cry from the glamorous way her onscreen persona married Phill on the show last year.

Jennie was in stitches as she revealed the TV wedding was not as idyllic as it looked on screen. She told the ECHO and other press: "I'm not moaning, but the one we did last time was freezing.

"You can't get a thermal vest under the wedding dress and soap weddings take forever. I sound so ungrateful. I'm very grateful for the storyline, but is it fun? Is it eckers?"

Jennie is confident that it will be third time lucky for her character if she manages to tie the knot with Tyrone on tonight's episode. She said: "That last wedding was all posh, but it wasn't the right person she was marrying. All she wants is the marriage and not the wedding."
