Coronation Street horror as Harvey tries to murder Leanne after police discovery

Coronation Street aired tense scenes on Wednesday night, as Leanne Battersby's bid to save son Simon Barlow almost cost her her life.

The Corrie favourite had been helping drug lord Harvey and his gang with storing drugs and delivering them around Weatherfield.

After son Simon got caught up with Harvey and the dealing through blackmail, Leanne took over to save him.

Of course viewers know that Leanne has actually been helping the police to catch Harvey and his organisation for good.

They had been working to bring down the gang and their business, which seemed to move to Weatherfield at the right time.

Enlisting the help of Leanne, they allowed her and Simon to continue helping Harvey while feeding back the information needed to put him inside for a long time.

It all led to one big drug deal, with Harvey taking Simon along unaware that the police would be waiting for them all.

As the police got to the scene offscreen, Simon phoned his mum in a panic with the news it had gone wrong.

Harvey knew he'd been dropped in it and had managed to escape arrest at the scene, and was on his way to Leanne's.

He soon caught up with her and despite her initially claiming innocence, she soon confessed to being the one working with the police.

Desperate to save Simon, she followed Harvey knowing she was in grave danger.

It's then that he told her to get in his car, and he revealed he was going to kill her.

As she begged him not to hurt her son, he commented about what his plans were for after he'd killed her before trying to get her into the vehicle.

Suddenly armed police arrived at the right time and arrested him, as a terrified Leanne backed away.

As he accepted his fate, he told her it wasn't over and said: "I'll get you, trust me. I'll get to you."

Leanne later confessed to Simon that she might have to leave with him until it was safe to return, but did not know when that might be after the threat.

But will she get away and for how long, or will Harvey get to them both?
