Coronation Street Hope's 'chilling' comment about Alina stuns fans

Coronation Street viewers were left disturbed tonight after Hope's "chilling" comment in a police interview.

Wednesday night's episode saw Hope being interviewed about the fire that she started in Tyrone and Alina's flat, which caused Alina to have a miscarriage.

Evelyn sat in on the interview as a worried Tyrone and Fiz waited nervously outside.

The police officer started by asking Hope if she knew the difference between right and wrong and telling the truth and lying.

The officer gave Hope a variety of situations as examples and then asked her what she thought about the fire and the cot.

She said: "What about the fire at your daddy's flat, was it a right thing or a wrong thing to do."

Hope seemed to struggle with her answer and the police officer asked her "is that a hard one" and Hope said: "Alina doesn't need the cot anyway."

And viewers were left stunned by Hope's remorseless answer.

Aliya said: "Alina doesn’t need the cot anyway’ that’s so chilling that’s how we all know that she meant to start the fire, cannot believe calm hope is."

Saffronskye said: "Hope - Alina doesn't need the cot anyway (shocked face emoji)

Ryan Glendenning said: "She doesnt need the cot anyway. What a horrible thing to say."

Following Hope's interview the police decided to charge her, with the potential for a trial for the 10-year-old and eleven years in detention.

*Coronation Street continues at 7:30pm on ITV on Friday
