Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw will be left horrified as her boyfriend Jan Lozinski is shot in front of her by human trafficker Rachel Healy.
In the upcoming dramatic scenes, the modern slavery storyline will come to a climax as Jan returns to the cobbles .
Unlucky in love Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, was led to believe that her boyfriend was part of a human trafficking ring inside a nail bar.
She was unaware that Jan, played by Piotr Baumann, was in fact a police informant and was actually working undercover to successfully expose the operation.
Eileen will be left stunned as Jan returns to Weatherfield in the coming weeks and asks her to leave the street so they can be together.
But the couple's happiness is short-lived as trafficker Rachel Healy, played by Verity Henry, seeks revenge after her arrest.
Unbeknown to the couple, Rachel has followed them to the meeting point.
Pulling out a gun, the villain fires a shot at Jan and flees leaving him for dead.
Eileen is left covered in his blood and cries out in horror as she tries to save her boyfriend's life in the shocking scenes.
It's unclear whether Jan will survive the ordeal.
Earlier this year, the human trafficking plot was exposed by Seb Franklin, played by Harry Visinoni.
He learned that his love interest Alina Pop, played by Ruxandra Porojnicu, was being forced to work in the nail bar and live in horrific conditions to support her family.
Police stormed the operation and arrested everyone involved.
Viewers learned that Jan was working undercover and he was told he could no longer see Eileen for her own protection.
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
