Coronation Street first look as giant sinkhole brings terror to the cobbles

Here's a glimpse of the terror set to hit the cobbles next week as giant sinkhole appears in a garden.

Shockwaves suddenly and unexpectedly ripple through Coronation Street at the most unexpected of times.

The Platt household is probably one of the most feared addresses, after all it previously concealed the body of drug dealer Callum Logan, and next week the bottom falls out of David's world, literally.

When smitten David discovers from Nina Lucas that his wife Shona is planning to leave because she thinks he hates her he decides to arrange a barbecue to persuade her to stay.

Shona and Nina join David, his daughter Lily, his sister Sarah and neighbour Sally Webster for the barbecue, when suddenly there’s an almighty crash and a huge crater appears in the middle of the garden.

Everyone gazes into the hole, completely stunned.

An engineer from the water company surveys the hole and breaks the news to David that as a result of the sinkhole, the house is unstable and he’ll have to find somewhere else to live.

The Platts had no idea that the sinkhole, a large hole in the ground formed when the land collapses away, was lurking.

Number 8 Coronation Street was the centre of the drama in 2015 to mark ITV's 60th anniversary.

Callum was murdered by an angry Kylie Platt with a wrench as he attacked his girlfriend Sarah in a special live episode of the soap.

Callum was wrapped in a blanket and buried in a manhole under Gail's granny flat until his body was accidentally unearthed by Fiz Stape and Tyrone Dobbs crashing into the Platt household in a truck the following year.
