Coronation Street favourite returns to help desperate Nick before violent attack

Coronation Street favourite Paula Martin has returned to Weatherfield.

Sally Webster's former lawyer, who briefly dated her daughter Sophie, came back to represent one of her neighbours.

Nick Tilsley was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle - but help arrived in the form of the hotshot lawyer.

Stirling Gallagher's character took no prisoners as she laid into the detectives for some of the questions directed at her client.

When the officers claimed Nick's account did not tally up with Carla Connor's report, feisty Paula told them to "take it up with her".

Nick insisted he did not know the roof was going to come down, but the detective said he had a motive to make it happen.

The business owner claimed he was on a run at the time the roof was sabotaged but had no one to back up his alibi.

The police couldn't find enough to charge Nick, who was attacked in the street when he returned home.
