Coronation Street fans stunned to find out Daniel Osbourne's real age

Coronation Street viewers shared their shock over the latest episode of the ITV soap, as they learned Daniel Osbourne's age.

Fans confessed their surprise over learning that Ken Barlow's son was much younger than they thought.

In a conversation with Adam Barlow, Daniel shared his concern about bringing up baby son Bertie alone following the death of his wife Sinead Tinker last month.

She lost her battle with cancer in devastating scenes, and earlier this week it was her funeral.

As Daniel opened up to his nephew, he revealed that he was 24 years old.

This is a fact, given that the character - the son of Ken Barlow and Denise Osbourne - was born 4th January 1995.

Daniel will celebrate his 25th birthday in January, but fans couldn't believe how young he was.

Expecting the character, played by actor Rob Mallard, to be much older, they took to Twitter to share their surprise.

A third added of the surprise: "I had no idea."

This view was echoed by another fan who said: "WHAT?! NO WAY. I thought he was like 30..."

The actor who plays Daniel, Rob Mallard is actually a bit older, at 27 and a half years old.

Daniel left his family concerned as he struggled to cope with losing Sinead in recent scenes.

He told Adam that he feared he wouldn't be enough for little Bertie, admitting he also felt his baby was better off without him.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
