Coronation Street fans stunned at Line of Duty 'crossover'

Coronation Street fans were left stunned tonight as the soap appeared to have a crossover with popular BBC show Line of Duty.

In tonight's episode Leanne woke up in a police cell after being caught with drugs by the police.

During an interview with detectives after her night locked up Leanne was quick to explain what had been happening with the drugs gang.

Leanne said Simon hadn't been involved in any of the actual drug dealing and that it was herself who had got caught up in it.

The detective explained that they already had a lot of evidence on the gang and needed someone on the inside to get the final pieces needed to put them behind bars.

The detective asked Leanne to go undercover for them and avoid prosecution for herself and Simon.

But viewers were quick to spot a similarity with Line of Duty who had featured a similar storyline involving a CHIS - Covert Human Intelligence Source or a police informant.

And many of them took to social media to point it out.

Nuala said: "Look at Leanne going UC to infiltrate the ACG! This is all so line of duty and I love it."

Chris Jones said: " #corrie getting in on the Line of Duty bandwagon. Leanne becoming a #CHIS "
