Coronation Street fans spot the return of a popular character in new spoiler photo

Corrie viewers have spotted the return of a popular character in a sneak peek photo.

In the soap's weekly spoiler photos, which takes fans behind the scenes of filming at Trafford Wharf, Fiz Brown is back in town.

In the photo, shared by Coronation Street on Twitter, Fiz can be seen seated at the dining room table with her partner Tyrone Dobbs and his sharp-tongued gran Evelyn Plummer.

Fans also spotted an as-yet unidentified new woman in the scene with Jennie McAlpine ’ who plays Fiz, Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone and Maureen Lipman who plays Evelyn.

"Omg the Fiz Bomb's back @jenniemcalpine I have missed you on screen x" cheered one fan.

"Fiz is back," said another.

"Is Fiz finally back? It’s about time!" commented another fan.

Fiz's return to Coronation Street was confirmed by TV bosses last month with a cute photo of Fiz and Tyrone and Evelyn with daughters Ruby and Hope in the Bistro.

The Corrie account tweeted the accompanying message: "Look who's back in Weatherfield! Welcome home @jenniemcalpine and Isabella! #Fiz #Hope #FamilyReunion #Corrie."

Jennie, from Bury, has been on maternity leave since last year, giving birth to her second child Hilda in October.

Tyrone Dobbs says an emotional goodbye to Fiz (ITV)

Fiz was temporarily written out of the soap by show bosses after her troubled daughter Hope, played by Isabella Flanagan, needed to go to a special school because of her bad behaviour.

Tyrone and his daughter Ruby stayed in Weatherfield while Fiz took Hope to the school in Birmingham.

Last month Jennie joined Andrea McLean, Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards and Jane Moore on the chat show Loose Women to talk about her return to the soap.

The former I'm A Celebrity star, who also has a four-year-old son Albert with husband Chris Farr, said while she was "thrown in at the deep end" it was like "riding a bike" as she returned to her role.
