Coronation Street fans spot 'ridiculous' blunder as Sam saves Gary

Coronation Street fans were quick to point out an issue as Sam saved Gary from being shot on tonight's episode.

Tonight's programme saw Gary steal the keys from the van to stop Sharon's escape, but Sharon and her accomplice ran after him to get them back.

Gary threw the keys back after the man pulled a gun on him, but as Sharon made to walk away her sidekick said he was going to shoot Gary to "tie up loose ends".

Sam was nearby and heard Gary being threatened, so sneaked out with his huge telescope case and hit the gunman with it.

Sam then ran off as a shot rang out and he told Maria: "I hit him, but he still shot Gary."

Maria and Sam raced back and Gary was sitting up unscathed as he said to Sam: "I'm fine mate because of you."

He then gestured to the telescope and said: "Padded on the inside" and Sam said: "Hard on the outside."

And viewers were thrilled that Sam had been such a hero, but also questioned the fact he'd be able to knock a man out cold with a telescope case.

Pepperpot said: "As if! That little lad knocks out a tough baddie with a cardboard tube! These storylines are getting more ridiculous."

Jamie was crazy said: "I know that was ridiculous, but still entertaining."

Paul said: "Oh come on, This was meant to be gritty and dark! But now this is just plain farcical! - Sam hitting villains with a telescope."

HelenPat said: "So Sam, all of 4 ft, knocked that huge man off his feet!!"

Aidan said: "Not sure a telescope case would knock a well built man out but anyway go Sam."

And Dave said: "I find it very hard to believe Sam knocked out a hardened gangster with a telescope."

*Coronation Street continues at 9pm on ITV on Thursday
