Coronation Street fans spot Debbie Webster's 'blistering' Boris Johnson dig

Coronation Street fans were in stitches during the latest trip to Weatherfield after spotting a 'blistering' dig at the Prime Minister.

Friday's hour-long edition of the ITV soap ended with the return of sleazy Bistro boss Ray Crosby after he found out Debbie Webster was double crossing him.

The business partners turned enemies got into a bit of a tussle with Ray pushing Debbie into the Bistro's walk-in fridge.

But Debbie's brother Kev seemingly came to the rescue, whacking Ray and going to his sister's aid.

However, he made the mistake of going into the fridge and the episode ended with Ray shutting the door leaving them stuck together.

Debbie asked him if they were likely to die before deciding that this wouldn't happen.

Before that though, Debbie asked Kev if they were likely to die and went on to make a comment about people hiding in fridges to avoid journalists.

She said: "It's 2021, people don’t die in fridges... they just hide in them from journalists."

Corrie viewers were quick to spot this was a bit of a dig at the Prime Minister who was accused of hiding in a fridge while being questioned on ITV's Good Morning Britain back in 2019 during the General Election campaign.

"Blistering line on #corrie," wrote one.

Another said: "'Its 2021 people don't die in fridges. They just hide in them from journalists'. And THAT is why I love @itvcorrie."

"#Corrie was good tonight, not looking good for Debbie and Kevin I did like her line about politicians hiding in fridges thought a great bit of Corrie wit," a third added.

A fourth said: "Nice little dig at Boris there, #Corrie," with another adding: "BOOM. #Corrie, the best as always."
