Coronation Street fans were reeling to see a different side to Eileen Grimshaw in tonight's Coronation Street.
The usually mild-mannered Corrie favourite mauled her good friend Sean Tully after discovering that he had a hand in sending her latest love interest Jan Lozinski packing.
Unlucky-in-love Eileen had been preparing to flee Weatherfield with her new boyfriend, but Jan was urged by Sean to let her go.
He protested that he was acting in his friend's best interests, but Eileen was having none of it.
"You couldn't bear it could you?" she raged.
"Because you screwed up every single relationship you've had."
"Eileen you're my friend," he protested.
But then she dealt the ultimate cruel blow before ordering him to get out of her house, telling him they weren't really friends.
"We're just people who drink together because it's just not as pathetic as drinking on your own," she seethed.
"All your cared about is that I'd found someone and left you behind to play gooseberry to Billy and Paul."
"Eileen showing her true colours. Men always mean more to her than friendship," tweeted one fan.
"Eileen, that is very very harsh on Sean," commented another.
"Poor Sean. All he was trying to do was keep Eileen safe, and this is the thanks he gets?" asked another.
Others jumped to Eileen's defence.
"Poor Eileen. So unlucky in love," sad one Corrie watcher.
"Oooow go Eileen!!! yes!!" cheered another.
"Sean is so out of order for going behind Eileen’s back like that, so glad she told him some home truths," said another supporter.
Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, was devastated when she thought her boyfriend was part of a human trafficking ring but it turned out that Jan, played by Piotr Baumann, was a police informant working undercover to successfully expose the operation.
He returned to the cobbles to profess his love and she agreed to make a new start after being married to serial killer Pat Phelan.
He was injured after being dramatically shot by trafficker Rachel Healy but discharged himself from hospital and quietly slipped away after Sean's warning to leave Eileen alone.
