Coronation Street fans say it makes 'no sense' as they foil Craig's blackmail plot and fear 'death'

Coronation Street fans have said it makes 'no sense' after previously branding Craig Tinker a 'monster' over his threat to fiancee Faye Windass. In scenes aired on the ITV soap last week, the usually loveable cop was heartbroken as he discovered that she had kissed her ex after he returned to the cobbles with their child.

Back in March, Jackson Hodge tried to contact Faye after he and their daughter, Miley, moved back from Canada after a number of years away. Despite her initial reservations, Faye has decided she wanted to be back in Miley's life. She has since, however, been struggling with her feelings after Jackson kissed her before Craig got down on one knee and popped the question.

But after Craig’s mum Beth Sutherland admitted she had caught Faye with Jackson weeks ago, Craig was furious. Later, breaking down in tears, Craig shouted at a surprised Faye: "How could you do this to me after all I did to protect you? You know very well, what I did. You could've gone to prison with all that means for an ex-copper, and I still took that chance.

"All to keep you safe. Because I love you that much. And you go and snog your ex at the first chance you get. How stupid am I?" He was referring to the fact that he covered for her and her pal Emma Brooker after he discovered they had been involved in a car accident with the elderly gentleman they knocked over later found dead at home.

Craig continued: "I feel like going down to the station right now and telling them everything. And yeah, I'd go down as well but what does it matter because if you go off with him, my life's already over." And Corrie viewers were 'disgusted' by Craig's actions, with one branding the cop a "monster".

During Monday night's trip to Weatherfield (May 22), Faye was still clearly reeling from her boyfriend's threat while he tried to carry on as if nothing had happened. Later, Faye broke down to her brother, Gary Windass, as she admitted what Craig had one her for the first time before essentially admitting her feelings for Jackson.

But fans seemed confused by Craig's sudden change and pointed out that Craig would be risking his own career if he were to 'blab' as he helped Faye and Emma cover up their involvement.

One said: "This makes no sense, he would be in prison himself if he told." Another commented: "Stupid storyline. If Craig told the police his career would be finished ffs." A third added: "Craig wouldn't blab he'd be putting his new promotion on the line otherwise." A fourth shared: "Craig 100% won't say anything. If he did he'd be incriminating himself."

Others, however, are fearing Craig could have got himself in trouble with the wrong person. One warned: "Run craig, Gary's in scary mode #Corrie." Another said: "#Corrie will Gary sort Craig out for blackmailing Faye? Craig won’t jeopardise his future career in CID." A third added: "That’s alright Faye, Gary will just take Craig for a walk in the woods! #corrie," as a fourth wrote: "Ah is Gary gonna do Craig in as well? #corrie."
