Coronation Street fans rejoice as Yasmeen pleads 'not guilty' over Geoff attack

Coronation Street aired huge scenes for Yasmeen Nazir on Wednesday night, as she entered her plea in court.

Yasmeen was accused of attempting to murder her husband Geoff Metcalfe recently, after stabbing him in the neck with a glass bottle - as well as hitting him over the head.

During Monday's episode she finally opened up about her months of abuse during a chat with granddaughter Alya, as she remained in prison.

The episode saw her appear in court to enter her plea over the charges, with her friends Cathy Matthews and Eileen Grimshaw there to support her.

But fans feared the worst when just as Yasmeen went to enter her plea, the episode ended.

On Wednesday night, the soap picked up immediately after as the judge awaited her statement.

Everyone in the courtroom, like those at home, watched on as they waited to hear Yasmeen's plea.

Before speaking, Yasmeen turned to Alya who was sat behind her, before looking to her lawyer and close friend Imran Habeeb.

Suddenly, she said the words: "Not guilty".

There was shock but joy in the courtroom, as those close to her celebrated.

Yasmeen appeared in shock by what she had done, with Geoff's son Tim Metcalfe also looking stunned if not disappointed.
