Coronation Street fans predict new romance between unlikely pair

Coronation Street's real-life couple Sally Carman and Joe Duttine have had to delay their wedding due to coronavirus.

But they haven't let it stop them celebrating their anniversary.

The pair shared a hot-tub snap at the weekend as they toasted three years together - and the post has prompted fans to urge the show's producers to give them an onscreen romance, too.

Corrie's Abi Franklin actress Sally shared the photo on her Instagram account captioned: "Three year" and showing the duo looking adoringly into each other's eyes while the bubbles frothed, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny on the cobbles, wrote: "I mean, who couldn’t love that face x"

Sally Dyvenor, also known as Sally Webster, added three kiss face emojis.

Fans loved the snap, hailing them "Cutie pair" and "gorgeous couple".

One said: "You two need to be a couple on the show"

Another added: "Abi and Tim would make the best couple"

A third simply asked: "What will Kevin and Sally think?"

Sally and Joe have recently revealed they've had to put their wedding plans on hold after further uncertainty about the easing of lockdown.

Sally told Loose Women last month how they postponed their planned December wedding after it became clear restrictions would not allow for their plans.

She said "We want to have a party, if there's only 15 people there we can't do that. So we thought if we defer it for a year we can hopefully get the wedding that we want."
