Coronation Street fans 'overwhelmed' after Roy's emotional confession about Carla

Coronation Street fans were 'left in tears' after a heartwarming confession by Roy Cropper about his close friend Carla Connor in the wake of the factory roof collapse.

He was faced with the return to the street of a man he and his late wife Hayley Cropper fostered years ago, called Wayne Hayes.

Health and Safety Investigator Wayne arrived as part of the probe into factory roof collapse, which led to the death of Rana Habeeb.

As the pair caught up, it became apparent that Wayne had no idea Hayley had passed away.

Roy told him about Hayley’s death, with Wayne wanting to make sure Roy was well looked after following the loss.

The character then told Wayne about the support he’d had from people including Carla, making a heartwarming admission, reports the Mirror.

He said: “Our friends Fiz and Tyrone were very supportive… and Carla. Hayley and Carla were very close, she was a great comfort to me. She still is.”

Wayne questioned whether he meant romantically, leaving Roy flustered before he set the record straight.

He continued: “No. It’s as if we’re a different species. I have come to rely on her somewhat, and she on me, she’s living with me now.”

Wayne suggested they had a “solid” friendship, to which Roy fondly agreed.
