Coronation Street fans were super confused as a teenage thief targeted Dev Alahan’s corner shop on Monday.
It was what the youth attempted to steal, before being rumbled, that really had viewers talking.
As Dev became preoccupied with booking his holiday away from Weatherfield, neighbour Evelyn Plummer popped by.
It’s then that she asked Dev for a job, offering to mind the shop for him while he was away.
As the pair spoke, viewers suddenly became aware of a young man attempting to shoplift.
But viewers were left baffled, as they spotted the teenager in question was trying to steal a huge swiss roll.
In hilarious scenes, the thief tried to hide the boxed cake in his tiny hoodie pocket.
Unfortunately for him Evelyn rumbled him, causing him to drop the goods and flee.
As many fans speculated she might even have been behind it to secure the job, others took to Twitter to share their amusement over the bizarre scene.
One fan commented: “He seriously tried to put that big pack of treats into a wee pocket?”
Another agreed: “As if that packaging can fit in that pocket. LOL! Rubbish thief.”
Others quizzed what was being taken, with a viewer tweeting: “A swiss roll though…”
This was echoed by another fan who said: “What teenager steals a swiss roll and cakes?”
