Coronation Street viewers reacted to moving scenes on Wednesday night, as Oliver Battersby's loved ones reeled from the fact there could be something seriously wrong with him.
The three year old was experiencing seizures recently, before his health deteriorated drastically.
He remains in hospital and in intensive care, where doctors have run a series of tests on him including a full brain MRI.
Viewers of the ITV soap recently learned the youngster would be diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, a life limiting illness for which there is currently no cure.
Oliver's parents Leanne Battersby and Steve McDonald learned this might be his diagnosis on Monday, with the latest episode of the ITV soap seeing the fallout.
Steve was desperate for answers, and ignored Dr Ward's advice by looking up the condition online.
This only left him with more questions though, as he discovered there are many different types and diseases linked to mitochondrial disease.
Leanne was panicked with not knowing what was going on, and she and Steve asked to see Dr Ward again.
It wasn't long before a tense Steve hit out at the doctor, before telling Leanne he didn't trust her or the staff at the hospital.
She hit back at him, telling him now was not the time to fall out with those trying to save their little boy.
As Steve continued to fume, Leanne ended up clashing with her partner Nick Tilsley, Oliver's stepfather.
He couldn't bear to see Oliver in hospital, but was struggling more with his parents being so positive when he was clearly so unwell.
As Steve and Leanne talked about the past and Oliver when he was a toddler, it all got too much for Nick who left the room.
In the corridor, Leanne slammed her partner before telling him to leave and not come back.
Viewers were heartbroken for the pair and the family, as it was clear that their situation was threatening to tear them apart.
Many urged the characters to stick together, as they hoped little Oliver would be okay.
