Coronation Street fans in tears as Daniel struggles to cope ahead of wife Sinead's death

Coronation Street aired heartbreaking scenes on Friday night, as Daniel Osbourne fell apart in the wake of his wife Sinead's terminal cancer diagnosis.

Sinead was trying to come to terms with the fact she was dying, telling her auntie Beth what she wanted to be wearing at her funeral and planning her final days.

Doctors gave her just months to live after the news her cancer had returned and had spread, with her condition now terminal.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018 and underwent treatment, but Sinead discovered last week that her cancer had returned and spread to her lymph nodes and her liver.

In the latest episode, Daniel wasn't coping and ended up turning to alcohol to block out his pain while Sinead had a pamper evening with Beth.

It wasn't long before Daniel got drunk and ended up lashing out at a fellow resident.

As well as shouting abuse at Bethany Platt, he took a swing for Michael Bailey who was trying to encourage him to get some air.

Later, he collapsed into the arms of his nephew Adam Barlow at the bus stop when he finally opened up on his heartache.

Adam cradled him as he broke down in tears, admitting he didn't know what to do.

Viewers took to Twitter over the scenes sharing their heartache, and wanting to give Daniel a hug.

One fan said: "That was just what Daniel needed; a hug! Adam can be lovely sometimes."

Another tweeted: "He is struggling to keep everything together which is understandable. Great acting."

A third commented: "Daniel is superb as the grieving future widower. Such raw emotion from someone so young and inexperienced. Great career ahead of him."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
