Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads this evening as they claimed to be distracted by "rustling" noises.
One scene saw Maureen Lipman's Evelyn Plummer plucking up the courage to pick up the phone and ask Arthur Medwin - played by Paul Copley - on a date.
Evelyn stumbled over her words and blushed as she struggled to ask Arthur out, before growing flustered and slamming the phone down out of embarassment.
The pair had taken a stroll together earlier in the episode, with Evelyn having to leave early on account of her dog's arthriti s.
During their phone call later, Arthur agreed to meet her soon with Evelyn calling it a "date."
But some viewers claimed they were distracted from the scenes by a "rustling" sound, querying if it could have been a mic issue.
Others speculated that actors may be wearing mics underneath their clothes, due to social distancing on set and limited crew members amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Why are people making excessive rustling noises with their clothes??" one complained, "Are the mics in the coat linings...?!"
Another tweeted: "Have some actors swallowed the microphone. Sound of rustling clothes is annoying."
"What's with the rustling?" a third asked.
"The rustling of clothes is so noisy," a fourth wrote, "it sounds like Evelyn is stuck out in the middle of a rough sea."
Meanwhile, other fans didn't see any problem with the sound - and threw themselves headfirst into the story.
"Yahhhhh," one excited fan wrote, "We need more Evelyn and Arthur."
"OMG," another gushed, "Evelyn totally has the HOTS for Arthur #Corrie."
A third laughed: "Evelyn so loves Arthur, LMAO she doesn't do apologies."
