Coronation Street viewers were left devastated this evening as David and Shona decided to split up - just days before Christmas.
The pair have tried to make their relationship work ever since Shona was left brain damaged during last year's shooting.
But after a number of mishaps, most recently involving Shona break into the Bistro with Simon, they decided to call it a day.
David sat down Shona tonight and told her: "I think we both have to accept that it's not working, despite how much we've both tried."
"If that's what you want," Shona replied reluctantly.
"I think it's for the best - for you," he responded.
Shona said bluntly: "Well, that's Christmas ruined. And your 30th."
David replied in surprise: "You remember my 30th?"
"No, no," Shona said. "Gail's planned a surprise present for you - it's a canoe. Oh, I shouldn't have told you that, should I?"
"It's alright, I already knew," David admitted. "She's not the best at hiding things - I saw her dragging it in before."
The pair laughed, but neither seemed too happy about the situation... and neither were viewers.
One tweeted: "nooo."
While another commented with a broken heart emoji: " Omg David and Shona #corrie."
But could Shona and David still reunite at Christmas?
