Coronation Street fans confused by new Craig Tinker scenes

Craig Tinker is now walking around Weatherfield with a head-turning new look, and Corrie viewers are baffled.

Coronation Street fans have applauded the actor Colson Smith for working hard to lose weight during lockdown, and now the cameras are rolling again his character is looking very different on screen.

As well as looking noticeably slimmer trainee police constable Craig is also sporting a new blonde hairdo.

This hasn't been lost on Corrie fans, but they're wondering why no-one on the street seems to have noticed, especially after Dev Alahan was complimented on his new beard.

"Fancy losing the weight Craig has lost and not one of his neighbours or friends even mentions it!!!" exclaimed one on Twitter.

"Why is no one commending Craig for his weight loss?" asked another.

"So Sally and Steve can reference Dev’s sudden beard, but can’t congratulate Craig on his weight loss? Poor Craig," commented another soap watcher.

After the soap stopped filming due to the coronavirus pandemic in March, actor Colson used the time off to focus on his fitness regime, and kept followers updated on his fitness journey.

The 22-year-old shared a time lapse video of himself working out outdoors with a dumbbell, kettle bells and a medicine ball.

On screen his character has taken up running after finding that he was out of breath while chasing shoplifters.

Craig told his friends that he was going to make an effort to get healthier after being bullied at work.

Colson previously joked in lockdown that he'd need a 'fat suit' when he returned to work as he'd look completely different to where the character left off.

He said on his weekly podcast the Sofa Cinema Club with co-stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price: "We are in direct continuity, but I've almost lost about 10 stone since we left work so I'm not sure that (my hair) is going to be the biggest of their issues.

"I might be wearing a wig and a fat suit when we go back."

Cameras starting rolling again on the set at Trafford Wharf in June and viewers are now seeing new scenes incorporating life amid the coronavirus.
