Coronation Street fans concerned for Arthur as he keeps secret amid hospital mystery

Coronation Street fans were left fearing the worst, after a scene with Evelyn Plummer and love interest Arthur Medwin.

The ex-partner of Evelyn has been getting close to her again in recent scenes, with the pair even planning a trip away in the latest episode.

But as they were trying to set off, Arthur suddenly had a phone call that led to him rushing off.

He claimed it was because his dog needed him, and he wanted to check on his pooch before he went away.

But he kept acting weirdly in the car as though he was lying, and hiding something from Evelyn.

As the double episode went on, his shifty behaviour left many wondering what he wasn't telling her as he was clearly hiding something.

Spoilers for this week also confirm the character sneaks off to the hospital for a mystery reason.

This and the scenes on Monday sparked confusion but also concern with viewers, who wondered what was going on.

Taking to Twitter, many shared their theories on whether something could be wrong with Arthur, or someone close to him.

One fan said: "Arthur is definitely dying and I would like to point out I called that MONTHS ago when he went to the doctors and said he was fine... I just know these things."

Another tweeted: "I’m thinking he may be ill possibly."

A third added: "What is Arthur hiding? I wonder if he has a secret wife that is ill or something! Please don’t let our Evelyn down!"

A fourth agreed: "I think Arthur has a wife somewhere that’s ill- maybe in a home with dementia and he’s keeping it a secret."

Viewers will have to tune in all this week to see if there are any other clues to what is really going on.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
