Coronation Street fans baffled as Simon Barlow's hair 'grows over ad break'

Coronation Street fans were left baffled after Simon Barlow's hair appeared to grow dramatically in the space of an ad break.

The popular ITV character, played by actor Alex Bain, was starring in a scene on Wednesday's episode when fans spotted the change in his appearance.

Ever since filming resumed on the hit ITV show, eagle-eyed viewers have found extra enjoyment trying to spot which scenes were partially filmed before the lockdown, and completed after.

In the scene, Simon donned a bright red hoody after he was challenged over skipping a recent exam.

Later on in the show, Simon sported the same hoody as he sat at home, but his curly locks were noticeably longer.

Fans were quick to point out that it looks like the scenes were partially filmed before lockdown, and completed after filming resumed.

"Spotting which scenes were recorded after lockdown has added a whole new level of interest to #corrie," wrote one fan.

He then added: "Simon Barlow had a looooong ad break. #corrie."

Other viewers joined in on the joke, adding: "I know, looks like he's aged two months."

Another wrote: "It is like when the Neighbours cast take their Christmas summer break and once a year all the cast are suddenly all tanned with different hair?!"

Simon isn't the only character to have transformed his look during the recent filming hiatus.

Imran Habeeb, played by Charlie De Melo, was also the topic of conversation after he unveiled a recent haircut.

It was actually during the lockdown that the actor had decided to completely shave his head.

Another fan has also pointed out how Nick Tilsley appeared with a beard in one scene, before emerging clean shaven five minutes later.

Despite the tiny gaffes, ITV staff have been working hard to ensure continuity throughout their filming.

The cast and crew are now also subject to a string of safety measures around the set in order to adhere to social distancing.
