Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are looking for extras

Fancy appearing in one of the country's most popular soaps? Well now could be your chance.

Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are on the lookout for extras keen to appear in the shows.

Agency Seven Casting said they're after people who are either located within easy commuting distance to Central Leeds, Salford Quays, or Liverpool.

In an ad on their website Seven Casting say: "The agency is getting busier and busier every year and we have found ourselves in a position (fortunately or unfortunately!) where we have more work than we have people."

They added: "Whilst living in one area does not mean that you cannot undertake work in the others and their respective soaps, you are more likely to be offered roles within your area."

Be amidst all the drama as an extra (ITV)

The casting agency are on the look out for both men and women to fulfill the roles, and applicants must be aged between 18-40.

Extra positions are flexible, and it's up to the applicant whether they want regular or less regular shifts, however it's not suitable for those looking for a full-time role.

Seven Casting continued: "This is some of the most highly sought after work in the industry; as such we are only looking for those with a genuine interest and passion for these soaps. Those who are reliable and dedicated."

Other things to note before applying: all work on soaps is paid (equity rate), a DBS certificate is required - whether you already have one or are willing to get one, and the agency won't take on anyone who is currently with an agency who is offered work on these soaps.

You can apply to become an extra on the soaps here.

Shortlisting is already underway, so it's recommended to apply as soon as possible.

Once you submit an application, you'll be invited to meet the team if successful.

Coronation Street is Britain's longest-running soap with its debut in 1960. Filming is based in Salford Quays.

Emmerdale first came to TV screens in the 70s and covers all the village drama in the countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, with filming based in Leeds.

Hollyoaks is the youngest soap of the bunch and is set in Liverpool. The Channel 4 show won Best Soap at the 2019 British Soap Awards.

If you're application is successful, the M.E.N would love to hear about how you get on as a soap extra.
