Coronation Street viewers were confused as Claire Sweeney made her eagerly awaited debut.
The former Brookside star arrived on the Cobbles tonight as Cassandra Plummer. The trouble character is a recovering drug addict and landed on Weatherfield to reach out to her mum, Evelyn, for help.
Cassie is Tyrone Dobbs' mum and she also hopes to connect with her son, who is convinced she is dead. Viewers were thrilled as Cassie made her Cobbles bow as she watched on as Evelyn spoke to Tyrone.

Cassie's Corrie debut got off to a dramatic start as she was rushed into A&E. Fans hailed Claire's turn and were excited about the direction Cassie's story will take throughout her time on Corrie.
People were particularly amazed by Claire's unrecognisable transformation to play her onscreen counterpart as the Walton actor looks worlds apart from her usual glamorous self. Fans were confused by the transformation and pointed out how Claire's new look reminded them of fellow Corrie character, Abi Webster, who has also struggled with drug addiction issues in the show.
