Coronation Street Charlotte Jordan's surprise admission as Daisy 'sees red' in violent twist

Coronation Street's Charlotte Jordan has lifted the lid on her character's upcoming sinister storyline.

The 27-year-old soap star is renowned for her role as Daisy Midgeley in the long-running ITV show. Daisy is currently central to a major plot in the show as she is preparing to marry Daniel Osbourne.

However, her wedding plans have been hit after she was targeted by a stalker. Justin has become obsessed with Daisy ever since she comforted him in the hospital waiting room while he visited his ill mother.

Daisy will become increasingly in danger over the coming weeks as Justin continues to harass her on the Cobbles. The situation will come to a head on Weatherfield when Daniel suggests they postpone the wedding until the stalking ordeal is dealt with.

In scenes set to air later this month, Daisy will encounter Justin on the street as she tries to process this news. Justin is holding a bunch of flowers for his mum, but Daisy assumes they are for her and hurls them into the street.

Justin touches Daisy on the arm for the first time, which will prompt her to finally take action as she punches him. Charlotte spoke to the ECHO and other press about the storyline as she heaped praise on the writers for tackling such a current issue.

However, she was in hysterics as she surprisingly admitted why it was fun to film. She said: "I really enjoyed learning how to punch someone. It's the first time I've been taught a physical stunt and we had a stunt co-ordinator named Kate, who is so good. She knows that I'm quite a clumsy person and not hugely co-ordinated so she taught me in a way that was great for me."

Charlotte said Daisy "sees red" because it is the first time Justin crosses the physical barrier and actually touches her. She said: "Daisy is cutting with her words, not physically. It's not her just lashing out, it's self defence."

The soap star said it was important to highlight how the victim isn't to blame in this situation as she explained how Justin would be categorised as an "intimacy seeking stalker". She added: "He believes they are in this loving relationship and that Daniel is somehow an obstacle". She added: "She doesn't know how far that delusion is going to go and how dangerous that could make him in the long run so it's just a scary situation for her to be in."

Charlotte feared the dark storyline will have an irreparable impact on her character as Justin is set to press charges against Daisy for assault after the incident. She told the ECHO and other press: "Daisy is extra, flamboyant, camp and big. You will slowly see that she starts to crumble and get smaller and smaller and I don't think she'll ever be the same again."

Corrie writers sought advice from the Suzy Lamplaugh Trust for this storyline and a spokeswoman from the personal safety and stalking organisation wants to raise awareness on the issue of this "prolific crime". Saskia Garner added: "It affects many people and can have a devastating impact on people’s lives yet many people may not recognise the behaviours as stalking.

"Above all we would say to anyone to trust their instinct and if something doesn’t seem right or you feel unsafe reach out for support through our services and tell someone you trust what is happening. The earlier the behaviours are identified and stopped the less likely they will escalate or cause even greater harm.”
