Coronation Street character 'ruined' after dramatic scene

Coronation Street viewers said Yasmeen Nazir's character was "ruined" after an emotional scene.

Yasmeen was the victim of a prolonged campaign of abuse at the hands of Geoff Metcalfe two years ago. Geoff eventually died by falling from a roof as he set their house on fire.

In tonight's episode, Yasmeen delivered a powerful speech against domestic violence but bad news forced her to break down behind the scenes. She discovered her current flame Stu went to prison for murder years ago and memories of Geoff started to flood back.

In the back of the Speed Daal, she broke down and started to have a panic attack. Roy Cropper found and tried to console her but Yasmeen quickly became hysterical.

The swift character development didn't go down well with fans as they accused the show of running her character within minutes.

One viewer said: "Sadly #corrie will not hit the mark with this story as reading the comments viewers are so hacked off with Yasmeen."

Another added: "They’ve ruined Yasmeen’s character."

A third viewer said: "Yasmeen's storyline is just jarring the way she turned on Stu and now the storyline is just not good surely they could have written a better script."

Roy continued to console Yasmeen but he couldn't break through to her. Viewers went on to brand her breakdown as "annoying" as the scenes felt unnatural for the character.
