Coronation Street character for return as Billy faces his past in huge new plot?

Coronation Street's Billy Mayhew will get a blast from the past in upcoming scenes, which could leave fans on "the edge of their seats".

Billy actor Daniel Brocklebank teased all on a character causing mayhem for him in a new storyline.

It's been revealed the plot that was planned before the coronavirus lockdown will still go ahead, with no major alterations.

Corrie has teased a big return with new spoilers, as vicar Billy faces his past.

Then again perhaps the mystery person is new to the show, and just a key figure from Billy's history away from the Street.

Speaking in an ITV webinar alongside soap boss Iain MacLeod this week, Daniel dropped hints about what was on the cards.

Scripts for the storyline are already written, with Daniel fully aware of what is coming - with him "on the edge of his seat" when he was told all by Iain.

Daniel confessed ahead of filming that the new or old character will cause a stir when they make their mark - but what is it all about?

He explained: "From my perspective, every day is different at work. It's a thrill, this morning I had my first post-coronavirus scripts arrive.

"There is a lot coming up for Billy which I can’t say too much, because I don’t want to spoil it for anybody.

"Somebody from Billy's past may be arriving which is going to cause a bit of a stir.

"I'm not gonna say anymore about it but I am buzzing for this storyline."

He went on: "Me and Iain had a meeting just before the lockdown about what is coming up and I was on the edge of my seat, I can’t wait for this."

Dan then questioned whether the storyline would be changed or affected by the recent halt in filming due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

With filming back up and running it isn't clear when the scenes will be filmed, but boss Iain suggested nothing has been changed for the plot.

He said: "Very little, the storyline is still on course" before promising that judging by the latest scripts, "it's as good as Daniel thinks it's gonna be".

Daniel echoed his excitement for the storyline coming up, while remaining coy over the details.
