Coronation Street cast reunite to support former co-star on the opening night of The Girl On The Train

The Coronation Street cast reunited to support former co-star Oliver Farnworth at the opening night of The Girl On The Train at The Lowry theatre.

Oliver, who played one of evil Pat Phelan's victim's in Corrie , is starring in the stage production of the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins alongside former EastEnders actress Samantha Womack.

Oliver was previously at the centre of the drama in Corrie as Andy Carver in Corrie, who was held hostage for months in a derelict building by serial killer Phelan.

He forced Andy to shoot fellow captive Vinny Ashford, before Phelan turned the gun on Andy in a disused factory.

Both bodies were then disposed of in a lake and the grim scenes prompted more than 390 complaints to Ofcom.

Walking the red carpet was Tisha Merry, who played Andy's girlfriend Steph Britton who departed the cobbles thinking he had left her to start a new lift abroad without her, and Dean Fagan who played her murdered brother Luke.

Mechanic Luke became Phelan's final victim in the killer's darkest ever chapter. He died in a dramatic car fireball last year after coming close to exposing the baddie builder’s dastardly deeds.

Luke was pursued in a gripping car chase and shot at by Phelan before the vehicle exploded.

Dean, who will DJ at Manchester singer and fashionista Jsky's Celebration of Self Love event on Saturday at Impossible on Peter Street, made the decision to leave Corrie.

Sair Khan (The Lowry / Nathan Cox)

He told former soap boss Kate Oates he was happy for Luke to be killed off after playing the character for four years.

Sair Khan, who played Luke's girlfriend Alya Nazir, also headed for a night the theatre, just across the bridge from the Coronation Street set at Trafford Wharf.

Alexandra Mardell (The Lowry / Nathan Cox)

Sair and Tisha both donned black biker jackets as they posed on the red carpet.

Sair, who was a contestant on last year's I'm A Celebrity ...Get me Out Of Here!, wore her jacket over a pretty floral dress, embracing the new spring and summer season, and Tisha teamed her jacket with a a leopard print top and matching skirt.

And Alexandra Mardell, who plays bubbly hair stylist Emma Brooker in the ITV1 soap, was all smiles in a snuggly looking tan coat and matching boots.
