Coronation Street cancelled for a week to make way for Euro 2020 football

Just when you thought rugby was taking over daytime TV, football comes in and side tackles the soaps.

Coronation Street viewers will be left devastated as they are forced to wait a whole week between episodes.

Instead of Corrie episodes airing on Friday October 11 and Monday October 14, Euro 2020 England matches will be on the TV.

This means that soap fans will have to wait a whole week from Wednesday October 9 until their next dose from Weatherfield.

England are playing qualifying matches against Czech Republic on Friday and Bulgaria on the Monday and Friday.

Emmerdale will also be cancelled on the Monday and Friday, however ITV will still be airing its hour-long Thursday episode.

Ireland are taking on Russia, with kick-off at 11.15am at the Kobe Misaki Stadium in Japan.

The sides have met twice before, with Ireland winning both times, so they will be expecting a rather comfortable victory.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will be returning on This Morning tomorrow, as will Loose Women.

Loose Women will also be returning on Friday with guests Lee Ryan and Denise Black.
