Coronation Street bosses say Katie McGlynn is 'fully committed' to Sinead's story amid quit rumours

Coronation Street bosses say Katie McGlynn is 'fully committed' to her character's story amid rumours she has quit the soap.

The actress plays Sinead Tinker in the ITV programme and is currently at the centre of an important storyline with her character being given the all-clear from cancer after deciding to delay her treatment to give birth to baby Bertie.

McGlynn arrived on the cobbles in 2013 and became an instant hit with viewers.

Speculation that she is the latest in a growing list of stars to quit the Manchester soap began on Wednesday.

But a Corrie spokesperson told the Mirror : "Katie is fully committed to playing out the extremely important storyline she is currently portraying on screen. This story still has a long way to go. Any speculation threatens to undermine the storyline for viewers."

On Monday, Faye Brookes announced that she would be leaving the role of Kate Connor after four years.

She is the second actor to announce their Weatherfield departure in the last week after Tristan Gemmill, who played Tracy Barlow's former husband Robert Preston, announced his plans to quit on Friday, April 26.

It also follows Kym Marsh's announcement in February that she will leave the role of Michelle Connor after 13 years.
