Coronation Street boss reveals huge scenes for Todd, Paul and Billy - and a romance

Coronation Street is lining up big new scenes for Todd Grimshaw, Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew, with one of them set to take on a huge new storyline.

There could be a reunion on the cards for one couple too, as it's been teased there's romance on the horizon for two of the characters.

Corrie boss Iain MacLeod has revealed the three of them will unite as they get caught up in Summer Spellman's ongoing surrogacy storyline.

Enemies will become friends it seems and love could blossom, as the three characters take centre stage in 2023.

Todd, Paul and Billy will band together to help teen Summer, amid "dangerous" scenes with Mike and Esther.

On the looming storyline, Iain revealed: "Romance is in the air for two of them, I will leave you to try and guess which of them it might be.

"I know historically there were very strong feelings from people who are team Todd and Billy, and then on the other side of the argument it's Paul and Billy.

"We've been back and forth with this with the writing team for years. We picked a team but actually whatever team ends up being a couple at the end of it, the story will be about all three of them.

"We see a lot of heart from Todd and a lot of deviousness in places. We also crash a huge story onto one of them that sort of causes fallen enemies to become best friends in secret. It's an interesting year for them. They are at the centre of one of our biggest stories."

Adding on the Mike, Esther and Summer surrogacy plot, he said: "It's gonna end badly for some of them. She finds herself in a certain degree of mortal danger... it's all quite exciting. Really it's in there to tell a story about that family group.

"In the end it's her three dads who save her from oblivion and reconnect her with who she was before she lost her way a bit, so we have got a nice, heartwarming aftertaste."

Mike could be killed off next week, as spoilers reveal he's left for dead. Paul and Todd confront him, after recent scenes with Summer that leave her in danger.

Summer is held at their house against her will - and next week, spoilers reveal she ends up collapsing due to her diabetes.

Spoilers confirm Mike opens the door only to realise Summer has collapsed after being kept away from her bag which contains her phone and insulin.

Esther calls an ambulance while Mike spins her a tale about Summer trying to back out of the surrogacy plan, and at the hospital he lies about the teen's identity. Aggie spots her though and overhears Mike giving a false name, so she contacts her dad Billy Mayhew who soon arrives with Paul.

Billy, Paul and Aaron are furious when the police officer tells them that Mike and Esther have accused Summer of lying about being pregnant, in order to extort money from them in exchange for the baby.

With it clear Mike is setting up Summer after his actions, fearing he could be in trouble, Todd and Paul are horrified to find him at Summer’s bedside. Mike rushes off and soon Paul follows him home, with Todd there too, as he wants answers.

Paul sees red and shoves him hard, leading to Mike falling and hitting his head on a plant pot - leaving him motionless on the ground.

Coronation Street airs Mondays to Wednesdays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
