Coronation Street actress brought to tears in Aldi after customer's gesture

A Coronation Street actress has been brought to tears at a supermarket after a heart-warming gesture from another customer.

Enid Dunn was left shaken after she discovered she had lost her purse while shopping at Aldi - as Manchester Evening News reports.

The 77-year-old was overwhelmed when she returned to the store to discover a Good Samaritan had handed in her lost purse that contained a precious memory of her mum.

She said: "I started to cry when they handed me my purse. Glad I wore my mask as I must have looked a sight.

"It’s not about the money but my whole life is in it - bus pass driving licence, bank cards.

"I even had a note from my mum which is a keepsake that I’ve had for 45 years."

The nan, who has also appeared in TV shows such as Phoenix Nights and Cutting It, posted on Facebook a message of thanks to the unknown person who returned her purse at her local supermarket.

She said: "A big thank you to the person who handed in my purse at Aldi in Rawtenstall this afternoon I had foolishly left it on the packing station."

Enid, who lives with her husband Paul, only realised she had lost her purse when she called into her local garden centre.

She said: "Of course I was in such a panic.

"The girl behind the counter at the garden centre was called Mandy she even rang the shops where I thought it could be. A big thank you to her as well.

"There are so many good people yet we only read about the bad. Thank you thank you thank you."

After Enid shared her story, she received a flurry of messages from friends relieved the story had a happy ending.

One said: "That must have been awful Enid, but a good outcome and restores the faith in humankind," while another added: "So glad it had a happy, heartwarming ending."
