Coronation Street actress announces birth of second child and reveals sweet baby name

Coronation Street star Sonia Ibrahim has been warmly congratulated by friends and fans after announcing the birth of her second child with husband Arron Machin.

The actress, 36, known for her role as Mel Maguire in the soap, shared the happy news with her 16,500 Instagram followers on Friday.

The mother-of-two, who is currently starring as Kat in Hollyoaks, shared a black and white image of herself nuzzling up close to the little one.

She posted it with a caption: "Sunday 22nd June at 10:26pm my life became complete. My beautiful boy Carter Benjamin Machin arrived, 7lbs of pure perfection.

"You are loved more than you will ever know little man."

Sonia and Arron have one older child, Sienna, 3, and the couple received a flurry of well wishes and congratulations from Instagram followers.

Fellow Corrie star Lucy Fallon wrote, "Gorgeous, congratulations" with a row of kisses.

Radio presenter and former Corrie actress Angela Griffin posted: "What job!!!! Congratulations to you and your gorgeous family. Sending loads of love."

Last month, Sonia held her baby shower and set tongues wagging with a fitted cream dress which showed off her baby bump, worn with a pair of gingham patterned shoes.

She even even pulled off a couple of dances moves despite being heavily pregnant, and she shared the images on Instagram.

The baby shower itself featured a carefully considered grey and blue colour palette, which gave viewers an inkling of the baby's sex.
