Coronation Street actress Alison King drops major hint about Peter and Carla's future

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor could finally have her happy ending with Peter Barlow, actress Alison King has hinted.

Viewers have been given fresh hope that the lovers might finally stay together for good, after their recent kiss.

Peter has been there for Carla all through her recent mental health battle, even amid his own struggles.

Carla suffered a mental breakdown after the factory roof collapse which killed Rana Habeeb, after she blamed herself, with other residents also saying it was her fault.

She had known the roof was damaged, unaware that someone actually tampered with it further leading to the incident.

Amid her mental breakdown, she suffered severe paranoia and next week the soap airs a special episode as her psychosis reaches dangerous heights.

Peter suffered an alcohol relapse as he struggled to care for Carla, and next week he risks his own recovery again to save her in her time of need.

Now, Carla actress Alison has revealed there could be a happy ending on the horizon, with fans desperate for Carla and Peter to remain a couple after their past splits.

She explained how “important” Peter was to Carla, and how he would help with her recovery.

Alison said: “It is really important, he has shown her that he will do anything for her still and she can trust him.

“He has literally saved her through his perseverance and believing that Carla is still in there and the belief she can come back, that is worth fighting for so I think they will become more solid than they have ever been.”

On Peter’s own demons, she added: “He is exhausted and battling his own demons and it is heartbreaking to see that she doesn’t even register what he is going through.

“She, even at one point, blames him for flooding the bathroom when it was her, it doesn’t even register that she did it. She is too busy trying to get the microchip out of her ear that she thinks they have implanted, her psychosis has got so bad.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
