Coronation Street abuser Geoff Metcalfe has been lying to Tim about what really happened to his mum Tessa, which will ultimately devastate him when he discovers the truth.
Actor Ian Bartholomew has confirmed that his character Geoff has been keeping a dark secret from his son for years.
However, the truth will inevitably come out when his other ex-wife Elaine visits Yasmeen in prison.
Recently, viewers have watched as Tim refuses to believe his dad manipulated or abused Yasmeen after she stabbed him in the neck in defence.
Yasmeen is currently awaiting trial for attempted murder after Geoff gave a statement to police saying that the attack was unprovoked.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Ian said: "Geoff has basically lied to Tim for years about what really happened with his mother, Geoff’s first wife.
"We will be exploring things a little deeper which I’ve always wanted to do.
"It would be good to find out more about their past, it could be key to how the story develops."
Geoff's ex Elaine is set to make her first appearance in the soap next week when she visits Yasmeen, at first claiming she is from a women's charity.
But later, Elaine explains that she was also abused by Geoff.
