Cornwall deaths: Two bodies found on different beaches in three days

The bodies of a woman and a man have been found on beaches in Cornwall in the last three days.

The discoveries are not being treated as connected by Devon and Cornwall Police detectives.

Officers were called to Perranporth beach early on Monday after the body of a woman was discovered on the shoreline.

She has been identified as Anastaszja Plusa, 22, from the town, reports Cornwall Live.

The death of the woman is currently being treated as unexplained.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Anastaszja was originally from Poland but grew up in Holland. She moved to the UK years ago and has lived in Perranporth a number of times.

"She was last seen wearing a dark-coloured coat, blue jeans and beige Converse trainers at the Texaco garage on Budnic Hill, Perranporth, at 7.45pm.

"Police are continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding Anastaszja’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Her next-of-kin have been informed."

Earlier today, at roughly 10am, police were called following a report of concerns for the welfare of a man on the beach at Carlyon Bay, St Austell.

On arrival the man was found dead.

Cornwall Live report that he actual location is Polgaver Beach at the far end of Crinnis at Carlyon Bay. The spot was once renowned as one of Cornwall's most popular nudist beaches.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were stopping anyone getting onto the private Carlyon Bay beach although members of the public including staff at the new Offbeat Bar, which was actually launching its first day today, have now been allowed access.

A spokesman for the bar said: "We were given the all-clear to get on to the beach at 1pm."
