Cornish boatyard goes on sale for £2m

A Cornish boatyard with its workshops, offices and even a house has been put on sale with a price tag of at least £2m.

International real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private client, has brought to market Penpol Boatyard which comes with a four-bedroom owner’s accommodation in Feock, Cornwall.

The boatyard can accommodate 60 vessels with an additional six deep water moorings. There is a boat workshop extending 7,232sq ft and an office with a water view.

The equipment provided in the sale includes a Kato 22-tonne crane, a Dory workboat with a 75hp Tahatsu outboard engine, slipway winch and assortment of cradles. There is also a fully fitted wood working machine shop.

The owner’s accommodation has been renovated by the current owners and offers light and spacious accommodation over two floors.

Downstairs there is open-plan living space incorporating the kitchen. There is also a separate study, utility and bathroom on the ground floors.

On the first floor, there are four spacious bedrooms, a family bathroom and space to create an en suite to the master bedroom.

The gardens lie to the front of the house and there is a garage/workshop and parking immediately outside the house.

Penpol Boatyard is situated in a prime location, on the edge of Penpol Creek, off Restronguet Creek, on the Fal Estuary in southern Cornwall. Truro is only five miles away.

Inb 2016, wooden boatmaker Butler and Co bought the yard from Ocean Yacht Company, and relocated from Dartmouth. The company, which builds and restores wooden vessels, still has the boatyard as its registered address.

Chris Sweeney, director in the leisure and trade team at Savills in Exeter, said: “This is a fabulous opportunity to acquire a boatyard with owner’s accommodation, situated on the banks of Penpol Creek on the Fal Estuary. We expect significant demand from the lifestyle buyer market for this well established and profitable business located in Cornwall.”
