Cornershop, Judy Sucks a Lemon for Breakfast

Tjinder Singh and co's fifth album nods at modernity in being available on download from the band's site but their sound, seven years on from the last release, is unchanged. Twanging guitars and sitars and rousing choruses are still much in play, as announced by the swaggering soul-flavoured opener "Who Fingered Rock n Roll". Yet classic Cornershop doesn't, of course, mean a uniform box of delights: from the glam stomp of the title track to the layered Punjabi folk of "Free Love", this is a happy march through several decades of rock.
