Corn prices are 2 to 3 cents higher so far on Friday morning. Futures posted gains to round out Thursday trade, with contracts 1 ¼ to 2 ¼ cents higher at the close and near the intraday highs. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price was up 1 1/2 cent at $4.09 3/4.
Export Sales data from USDA showed 116,740 MT of corn for 2025/26. That was a marketing year low and 31.5% below the same week last year. South Korea was the buyer of 86,100 MT, with 84,300 MT to Colombia. Sales for 2026/27 were tallied at 1.027 MMT, which was on the higher side of the expected 0.7-1.2 MMT. That was slightly below the week prior’s MY high and well below last year. Unknown destinations was the buyer of 490,400 MT, with 151,500 MT to Mexico, and 151,000 MT to South Korea.
Ahead of the August Crop Production report from NASS next Wednesday, a Reuters survey of analysts shows expected yield at 182.4 bushels per acre, with a range of 180.5 to 184.8 bpa. Production is estimated at 15.934 bbu, as harvested acres are expected to be trimmed by 76,000 acres.
Brazilian corn exports in July totaled 1.943 MMT according to the country’s government data. That was well above the month prior but down 21.16% from the same month last year. ANEC estimates the August export total at 4.08 MMT, which would be a 3.26 MMT drop from last year if realized.
A South Korean importer purchased 134,000 MT of corn in a tender overnight.
