Cormack details Burrows start date as he offers update on Aberdeen manager search

Dave Cormack has confirmed incoming chief executive Alan Burrows will start work at Aberdeen on February 27 - and will be involved in the search for a manager.

The Pittodrie chairman updated supporters on the arrival of the new CEO alongside a short update on the ongoing recruitment search for a new first-team boss.

Cormack told supporters that the search is "progressing" with candidates being considered for the post. He also cited strong interest in the position and referenced "unfounded speculation" around the ongoing process.

The Aberdeen chairman hinted at an extended period with Barry Robson acting as interim boss as he set out the future steps before an appointment is made.

This includes the drawing up of a shortlist of favoured candidates before the interview process begins.

Burrows - who heads to Aberdeen from Motherwell - will also play a significant role in the manager search with Cormack stating the CEO will be involved from his arrival date.

In a club release, Cormack said: “Aberdeen FC’s recruitment for a new manager is progressing with potential candidates being considered against the detailed criteria and philosophy the Club has set out.

“There has been a high level of interest as well as some unfounded speculation. It is vital that we carry out the necessary diligence in drawing up a short-list before embarking on any serious talks or interviews.

“Alan Burrows, who starts as chief executive on 27th February, will be involved in the next steps. It’s important that we take our time and be patient.

“In the meantime, Barry Robson, supported by Steve Agnew and Scott Anderson, will continue to lead the first team and they are wholly focused on preparations for Saturday’s match.”
